Pestana hotel group awards the best for the performance achieved in 2022
After two years of absence imposed by the pandemic, the Pestana Hotel Group resumed its traditional annual management meeting (RAP). The meeting was held at the most recent of the Group’s three hotels in Morocco, and counted with the participation of around 140 employees from the 16 countries where the Pestana brand is present.
With the support of its suppliers and guest speakers, strategies were drawn up for a great year 2023 in Tourism and Real Estate.
The Pestana CR7 Marrakech located in the “red city” hosted, between the 1st and 4th of March, the Pestana Hotel Group Staff Annual Meeting. A few months after marking its 50th Anniversary, the Group awarded the business units and employees who achieved the best performance throughout 2022.
The program had the participation of guest speakers, who inspired the audience with their experiences and success stories, and also shared the best practices carried out by the operational teams. The meeting ended with the presentation of Dionísio Pestana, Chairman of the Pestana Hotel Group, followed by the delivery of the “Pestana Awards”, which rewarded the best performances obtained in the previous year.
The hotels Pestana Carlton Madeira and Pestana Miami South Beach immediately gained prominent positions. The Pestana Carlton Madeira, the Group’s first Hotel, inaugurated 50 years ago, received the “Best Hotel” award, achieving the best absolute result among all the Group’s hotels. The Pestana Miami South Beach stood out for the “Best Performance”, surpassing, among other criteria, its best result since it opened more than a decade ago. The prize for “Best Pousada in Portugal” was awarded to Pousada Mosteiro Amares.
Rewarding the assessment made by clients during their stays throughout 2022, the ambitious “Reputation Award” was awarded to the Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid in terms of the hotel category and also to the Pousada Mosteiro Guimarães.
As well as hotels, the Group’s increasingly important real estate area was also awarded, highlighting its best development, Madeira Acqua Residences, with the “Best Business Unit Award”.
Within the scope of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria), of increasing relevance in the Group’s operations, the “Sustainability Award” was given to the Pestana Palace Lisboa kitchen team. With daily support to the community during the pandemic, the team led by Chef Pedro Inglês Marques prepared and provided 18,500 meals to the Johnson Academy (an organization that supports young people and children in the neighborhoods of Cova da Moura, in the municipality of Amadora), and to João13 – Association for the Support and Services to People in Need, and also to the Parish Council of Estrela, in Lisbon.
In recognition of the long work carried out at the Pestana Hotel Group, two “Dedication Awards” were awarded. The first to Florinda Almeida, Director of Human Resources (Payroll & Systems), and the second to Diogo Tamen, responsible for the Group’s Maintenance and Construction areas. Finally, a “Special Prize” was awarded as a thank you to Paulo Garcia, Director of the Morocco Area, for all the dedication shown in Morocco over the last 6 years, since the opening of the Group’s first hotel in Casablanca, followed by Tangier and Marrakech.
“The future began 50 years ago. Last November, we celebrated the inauguration of our Group’s first hotel, the Pestana Carlton Madeira, whose performance in 2022 determined the happy coincidence of being recognized as the “Best Hotel” in terms of results”, said Dionísio Pestana, Chairman of the Pestana Hotel Group. “We can say, with certainty that over the years we have been able to prepare ourselves with a solid, diversified business, with robust financial capacity, ensuring compliance with the motto ‘the time of your life’ to our guests”, concluded Dionísio Pestana.
