Chef Rui Martins’ award-winning cuisine can now be found in two Pestana hotels, in Rio and São Paulo

Rui Martins’ award-winning cuisine can now be found in two Pestana Hotel Group hotels – in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo – with a two-week festival, from 15 to 30 June, serving lunch and dinner. Rui Martins was named 2016 Chef of the Year in Portugal’s most prominent and biggest culinary competition.

Heading RIB Beef and Wine’s kitchen, a Pestana Vintage Porto hotel steak house, and the chain’s newest hotel, Pestana Porto – A Brasileira, Rui Martins prepares a classic Portuguese menu for R$ 88.00 per person (drinks not included) with 3 starter options, hot dishes and authentic desserts.

The Portugal Origin menu by Chef Rui Martins will offer Caldo Verde soup, Algarve Carrot or Octopus Salad as a starter option, along with Bacalhau à Bras (Cod à la Brás), Portuguese Beef or Duck Rice among the hot dishes. For dessert, one of the highlights of Portuguese cuisine, Martins proposes Toucinho do Céu (Almond Cake), Rabanada do Porto (Porto French Toast) and Caramel or the famous Pastelzinho de Nata (Portuguese Custard Tart) to conclude the experience.

Pestana Hotel Group’s culinary festival will be served at the Cais da Ribeira Restaurant, at Pestana São Paulo and the Deck Lounge, at Pestana Rio Atlântica, in Rio de Janeiro.

About chef Rui Martins

His cuisine is inspired by several regions of Portugal, his travels and the use of varied techniques. It is a cuisine of contrasts, with a variety of influences and a well-defined route to achieving a sublime taste. It could be dubbed “Tradition vs. Modernity” as the chef continues to work hard on his goal of evolving, growing and offering more, for a unique culinary experience each time. Named Chef of the year in 2016, he is on the list of the 10 most influential people in Portuguese gastronomy, and today manages the restaurants of the most recent Pestana hotel A Brasileira and Rib Beef & Wine in the city of Oporto.
